RENNTECH BUILDING HYBRID MERCEDES GLK FOR SEMA

RENNtech has just released these photos of its Pikes Peak-inspired Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV. The car will be in Las Vegas during SEMA Week along with three other GLKs, which are to be built by Brabus, Blvd Customs and Legendary Motorcars (the shop behind the SPEED channel show Dream Car Garage).

Little is known about the performance modifications other than it will be RENNtech’s first ever performance modified hybrid powertrain!

Mercedes hasn’t confirmed whether or not it will have a booth at the SEMA Show but the cars will be on display during a pre-SEMA presentation at the Wynn.

We’re as surprised as anyone to see Mercedes getting involved with SEMA week, but we’re sure it has something to do with the fact that Lexus is now a big part of the world’s largest aftermarket trade show. Just as Lexus forced the German’s to realize that the Japanese could build a luxury car, it seems as though Toyota’s upscale brand is forcing them to pay attention to the aftermarket. And it’s about time, especially considering how well the German OEMs work with the aftermarket in Europe.
