SEMA 2007 DAY 3
Las Vegas, Nevada
November 1, 2007 Story & Photos: Colum Wood
Wednesday night was an important one for GGI, which up until now was known for being both a wheel distributor as welll as the distributor of Carlsson parts in the USA. Adding to their empire GGI has teamed up with BMW tuner Hartge as well as Porsche tuner Sportec to offer a complete line of tuning products for Germany's most highly regarded cars. With owners of all the company's present, including brothers Herbert Hartge (Hartge) and Rolf Hartge (Carlsson), GGI unveiled a stunning black Carlsson CL65, a Carlsson C-Class, a Sportec modified 997 Turbo and an M5-powered Hartge 3 Series.
Another R8!
Over at the Vredestein tires booth we spotted a second Audi R8 - this one also featuring SDS Alloys wheels (but wrapped in Vredestein tires). Adding to the performance of the R8 was a Milltek exhaust.
And if finding two R8s seems surprising we counted a total of three Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black Series at the show this year.
Supercharger coming for LS460
If the wild and crazy Lexus vehicles we showcased earlier in the week are not for you, then it's likely you'd be a fan of the products from WALD. Over at the Jonari booth we discovered a WALD modified LS460L that was absolutely stunning. The new Lexus V8 makes plenty of power but our sources tell us that WALD Japan is currently in the prototype phases of a supercharger for the LS460.
TechArt GTstreet R
CEC Wheels had plenty of amazing machines on display from Novitec Rosso, Brabus, Oettinger and AC Schnitzer and we learned that TechArt is planning to build a raw and ready GT2-based version of the GTstreet with 700 hp. According to TechArt representatives at CEC Wheels, the AWD platform can't handle that much power so the RWD GT2 was the only option. A stripped down interior is also likely to be a part of the package to decrease the weight of the GT2 even more and as a result further increase performance.
Tomorrow
As MLE heads over to the CEC Wheels party be sure to check in tomorrow to see if we discover any new surprises there.
