SEMA 2007 DAY 2
Las Vegas, Nevada
October 31, 2007

Story & Photos: Colum Wood

After the show closed on Tuesday night, Michelin invited Modified Luxury & Exotics back to their booth for a private showing of the exceptional vehicles they were showcasing. Michelin's booth concept for this year was "street, tuner, track" with vehicles from each genre. With a stock R8 on display and the Audi R10 race car it was incredible to see that someone has in fact already modified the R8. Renowned Audi tuners APR presented a black and silver R8 with upgraded brakes, a new ECU and a full exhaust system. And while it's not like the R8 needs new wheels, SDS Alloys provided a stunning set of their light-weight rims.

In the Porsche category the ALMS was again represented with one of the Penske cars. Representing the stock category was a GT3 RS and shocking all present was the Champion Motorsport F77 997 Turbo. With their "Man from Chilie" paint, Werks 1 Composites carbon fiber goodies and a kit that boosts power to 600 horses, you'll be sure to see more of it in MLE in the future.

To top this all off, one of the Compuware Corvette C6R race cars was present as well as a Lingenfelter 1000 hp car.

More Tires

Every tire company seemed to have something to show off, however Goodyear's offering is particularly note-worthy - the Eagle F1 Asymmetric. With carbon fiber sidewalls and plenty of new technology this new ultra high performance tire is already getting rave reviews from sources like Tire Rack.

Wheely Good News

The wheel hall was a big source of news at SEMA this year with industry leaders like HRE and iForged making strides with their one-piece wheel lines. From companies known for three-piece applications, this one-piece trend is certainly big news.
On top of that, CEC wheels had on display a 29 lb 23-inch carbon fiber SUV wheel. Zenetti Wheels also had important news with a jaw dropping widebody and Kleemann supercharged CL600 on display.

Up Next

Be sure to check for tomorrow's daily SEMA update for big news from GGI. The company that brings Carlsson to the USA has just added a top notch BMW tuner as well as a Porsche tuner to their ranks. Plus, there is at least one other tire company (Vredestein) with some very impressive vehicles to showcase.
