Concorso Italiano 2007
Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course, Seaside, CA
August 17, 2007 Story and Photos by Colum Wood
There is no doubt that this year's Concorso brought a grouping of the most
exotic modern vehicles together. In the space of a few hundred feet one
could see a Ferrai Enzo, a Maserati MC12, a Bugatti Veyron and what seemed
like half a dozen F40s. And that was just the immediate Concorso showing
area. If one were to venture over to the non-Italian paddocks there were GT3
Rses, Aston Vanquishes and a host of BMW Z8s.
After running out of magazines last year MLE brought 1000 copies to hand out
from their booth which they shared with other Enthusiast Media titles like
Automobile and Motor Trend. Flanking each side of the booth were two
incredible beauties. A brand spanking new titanium Ferrari 599 (already
modified with a Tubi exhaust) generously donated for the day by ALMS and
Rolex Sports Car Series driver Cort Wagner sat on the right side while on
the left a highly modified Lamborghini Gallardo belonging to Scott Scooter
Bingham drew crowds. Bingham was honored for his creation by receiving MLE's
first Editor's Choice Award. It should also be noted that Bingham's Gallardo
was the cover car of the June 2007 issue of MLE.
This year Concorso's celebrated marque was Ferrari and F-car drivers turned
out in droves – especially F360 owners.
And if people watching is your thing, Concorso is also a great place for
that. Spotted cruising the fairways were the likes of Valentino Balboni and
even Jay Leno!
MLE would like to thank Cort Wagner, Scott Bingham as well as both Evosport
and Car Nutz Customz for their help in arranging the exceptional vehicles
for MLE's booth.
